Associate Manager Financial Controls & Compliance Job

Purpose The Associate Manager of Financial Controls and Compliance ("the Associate Manager'') is to independently manage the Novo Nordisk Inc.'s ("NNI" or "the Company") financial control environment program including Sarbanes Oxley (Sarbox) requirements. This includes maintaining and enhancing the Company's financial control framework by providing support, guidance, clear and concrete recommendations to line of business to design, maintain and test financial controls. The individual is responsible for ensuring compliance with all aspects of the regulatory standards relative to Sarbox with a focus on efficiency and simplicity without compromising operational effectiveness. As part of managing the financial control environment program, the Associate Manager will also assist in assessing the Company's fraud risk environment on an annual basis, determine areas susceptible to misappropriation of assets, and assist line of business in design of controls to mitigate the fraud risk. Relationships This position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting Standards, Policies and Compliance. The Associate Manager interacts with line of business across various business functions including IT, Group Internal Audit (GIA), Corporate Projects & Controls Group and external auditors. Essential Functions Maintain and enhance the on-going financial compliance program including Sarbox and Fraud Risk Management. Partner with line of business and process owners to ensure appropriate maintenance and updating of documentation as needed, including evaluation of the impact of new business initiatives, significant process changes and Information Technology (IT) systems. Recommend practical and executable enhancements to improve the overall financial control environment and act as a liaison with key stakeholders to support the Sarbox program and ensure internal controls are functioning effectively. Coordinate and drive the execution of Sarbox reviews by Corporate Project & Controls, Group Internal Audit and external auditors including evaluation of control deficiencies, development of implementation plans and timely execution of those implementation plans. Lead the process owners' Sarbox documentation effort to verify alignment of identified risks to Sarbox controls, maintain/adjust new/existing controls. Provide support to process owners to improve Sarbox documentation including Internal Control Questionnaires (ICQ) and Risk & Materiality (R&M) documents. Reviews Request for Change's (RFC's) and/or SIA (System Impact Assessment) for Sarbox/financially critical systems. This includes but not limited to documentation of Sarbox assessment, design of controls, and preparation/review of test scripts to ensure proposed controls mitigate Sarbox risks. Conduct and lead the evaluation and testing of the effectiveness of internal controls surrounding prevention/detection of fraud. Assist Senior Manager with audits of suppliers, with focus on internal controls, general process/efficiency recommendations, or compliance with contract terms. Contribute through preparation and execution of test plans and communication of findings to senior management. Perform SAP annual critical access and Segregation of Duties review of key financial systems, working with relevant department managers. Verify access is properly segregated or mitigating controls exist. Physical Requirements 0-10% overnight travel required. May require international travel. Qualifications A Bachelor's degreerequired. Specified degree in finance, accounting or other business related area is preferred. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) is required or completing the certifications within 3-6 months of hire. 5+ years of relevant experience in internal auditing or public accounting. Pharmaceutical industry experiencepreferred. Action oriented with a "do what it takes" mindset and positive attitude. Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders with a commitment to quality and customer focus mindset. Ability to lead a project in the development and implementation of processes and programs. Adept at identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement. Ability to utilize knowledge of the project management cycle, including stakeholder analysis, change management, execution and analysis to ensure the successful completion of projects. Manage ambiguity and learn quickly when facing new challenges. Maintain an open mind and explore new options to resolve matters in an effective and efficient manner. Excellent verbal and written communication both in informal and presentation setting. Previous exposure to large ERP financial systems and environment is required, SAP experience a plus. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
