Summary:
The IT Asset Management Technician is responsible for managing the intake, inventory, and lifecycle of IT equipment including laptops and related devices.
This role requires a strong knowledge of IT equipment, asset management systems, and inventory control practices.
A background in Desktop Support or Help Desk would also benefit this position as there may be times that troubleshooting defective equipment will be needed.
Position's key accountabilities:
Collaborate and engage with LoB on GITO IT related matters.
Manage IT Equipment resources for onsite team Assist and collaborate in IT project implementation as assigned by Lead or IT Operations manager Work Agile with Kanban for all assigned planned tasks and participation in stand-ups Ensure and work in compliance with client principles, relevant SOPs & legal laws.
Nature and scope of Key Accountabilities:
Manage daily intake and inventory of IT equipment including laptops and related devices.
Determine the status of equipment for re-use or retirement and follow respective processes.
Handle the removal of laptops from backend systems prior to reimaging.
Oversee the reimage process, post-completion inventory, and storage.
Coordinate the repair process for devices identified as re-use eligible but needing repair.
Manage equipment ready for retirement and disposal.
Communicate with relevant personnel regarding laptops associated with employee separations.
Support Desktop Support team with break/fix replacement units and new hire setups.
Monitor stock levels of all equipment and communicate with procurement technician for restocking needs.
Conduct regular self-audits and adhere to standard control reports.
Handle ad-hoc report requests from the client.
Purpose and subject of interaction with internal/external customers and key contacts Actively work and participate in the GITO virtual IT Team set-up.
Provide IT services and solutions to staff and management.
When authorized, manage the relationship with vendors and partners Improve operational effectiveness.
Optimize existing services based on user feedback.
Education requirements High School Diploma or GED and/or degree in IT preferred or 3
years of relevant experience Fluent in oral and writing in English.
Experience with ITSM tools like ServiceNow preferred Work experience :
Strong knowledge of IT equipment and inventory management practices.
Proficiency in managing and monitoring asset life cycles.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Due to the physical nature of the position a requirement to lift 30-40lbs of equipment on any given day is required.
In addition to the above physical lifting requirement, it should be noted that this position is constantly mobile within the site location requiring a lot of walking, pushing carts with equipment on them and receiving pallets of shipments which will include moving these shipments around with proper equipment, unloading received shipments from pallets and moving onto storage shelves for future use.
